Cardiac Rehabilitation

About Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

At Bayshore, the therapeutic, three-step Cardiac Rehabilitation Program – consisting of education, exercise and maintenance – helps patients who have experienced a heart attack, angioplasty, coronary bypass surgery, congestive heart failure, or angina to gain heart strength and stay healthy. It includes a customized exercise regimen in the hospital's rehabilitation center, tracked using the most up-to-date cardiac monitoring technology system.

Phase I – Inpatient Education
During a patient's stay at Bayshore, information on the particular cardiac condition is reviewed and healing progress monitored.

Phase II – Outpatient Program
A supervised EKG-monitored exercise program is designed for each patient, encompassing the use of the treadmill, stationary bike, arm ergometer, wall pulleys, rower, and hand weights. During this phase, diet is evaluated, plus nutritional counseling, stress management techniques and educational talks are offered.

Phase III – Maintenance
This final stage is centered on a patient's independent exercise program. Based on medical staff recommendations, patients will increase their exercise routine, monitoring their own heart rate, and become comfortable with exercising on their own.
