What is Orthopedics?People are enjoying longer, more active lives, thanks to advances in orthopedic medicine. Orthopedics is the branch of medicine concerned with diseases, injuries, and conditions of the musculoskeletal system: the body’s bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.
Orthopedic Services at Bayshore Community Hospital
Team of ExpertsWhether it’s spine or joint replacement surgery, minimally invasive corrective procedures, or non-surgical pain management, the highly-trained orthopedic team at Bayshore has the expertise and skills, to get you back on the tennis court, golf course, treadmill, or just doing the things you love. Our experienced professionals will accurately diagnose your problem and develop an individualized plan of care to meet your unique needs.
We make every attempt to try possible non-surgical treatments before considering surgery, however when a surgical procedure becomes the right choice you know you are in capable hands at Bayshore. Bayshore is home to fellowship trained board certified orthopedic and spinal surgeons and pain management specialists, accomplished podiatrists, and experienced anesthesiologists, who work with our staff of certified operating room nurses and surgical technicians, using both non-surgical, surgical, and minimally invasive techniques.
Additionally, our team has the ability to replace all major joints and perform advanced arthritis surgery through our Total Joint and Spine Center. Skilled in all aspects of orthopedic surgery, orthopedic procedures at Bayshore include:
• Joint replacement of the hips and knees through our Total Joint and Spine Center
• Joint and ligament repair

Blood Management ProgramBayshore offers a blood management system to patients undergoing more extensive orthopedic surgeries. During the operation, a patient’s lost blood is recycled and reinfused into the patient during the perioperative process. This technique may be a good option for patients with objections to blood transfusions.
Intraoperative MonitoringUsing a neurophysiological monitoring system, surgeons are able to precisely track changes in the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerve function during major spinal surgeries to ensure that delicate nerves are not damaged during the procedure.
