From the moment I entered the Emergency Room suffering from chest pain, until my last session of cardiac rehab, I was consistently treated with compassion, respect and dignity by each member of the staff at Bayshore Community Hospital. I was amazed at how quickly the staff in the Emergency Department began my care and performed all the preliminary tests. In what seemed like only minutes, the attending cardiologist confirmed my fear – I was having a heart attack. Through my emergency cardiac catheterization procedure and my days of recovery at Bayshore, I always felt fully informed of what was happening and what I should expect. I can say with confidence that the team at Bayshore Community Hospital put me on the path to better heart health. And, since my heart attack last fall, I have taken the great advice of the dietitians and cardiac rehabilitation staff to heart -literally! I have lost over 34 pounds, feel great and happy to have a new lease on life. My recent experience has convinced me that Bayshore Community Hospital truly is a vital local resource worth supporting. ~ Sharon Adam, Cliffwood Beach
Donor Support Brings Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Care to Bayshore
“This new technology offers patients advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options,” says Shaddy Younan, M.D., medical director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Bayshore. “The increased detail and clarity available at Bayshore means local residents won’t have to travel to receive high quality care and they will experience shorter hospital stays, less pain and quicker recoveries.”
According to Tim Hogan, FACHE, regional hospital president, Monmouth County, “The opening of the Multi-specialty Interventional Suite provides our community with immediate access to the best cardiovascular intervention as well as a direct connection to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the regional provider of cardiac surgery, in the event that cardiac surgery is required.”
Gift Result of Exceptional Care
As a result of a very positive patient experience, Colts Neck resident Dee Rudko made a significant financial commitment to support the future of Bayshore Community Hospital. Over the course of several weeks last spring, Mr. Rudko’s mother-in-law was a patient at Bayshore, and he was impressed by consistent, high-level care she received from the outstanding Intensive Care and nursing teams. We are truly grateful for the Rudko family’s confidence and philanthropic commitment.
Long-time Holmdel resident Gives Back to Bayshore
In his 37 years in Holmdel, Angelo DeRosa has raised a family and generously given his time to the community, including joining the Holmdel First Aid Squad where he has witnessed the care provided by Bayshore Community Hospital. Observing this high level of care is what inspired Angelo to give back by making a leadership gift to Bayshore in 2013.
Angelo responded to more than 400 first aid calls, giving him a unique perspective on the recent momentum at Bayshore. “As EMTs, we immediately noticed a change in the Emergency Department when Bayshore became a part of Meridian Health; there was a complete transformation,” says Angelo. “Watching the emergency room team work together is like witnessing an orchestra perform. It is comforting to know that so many patients are in such capable hands.”
Angelo’s spans much further than his role as an EMT. An active member of his church, Angelo serves on a committee that teaches community members the skills necessary to find employment. As the founder and chairman of his now multi-state company, Sterling Consolidated Corporation, the knowledge and expertise he has to share is invaluable.
“Angelo’s support is particularly meaningful because he is a partner in providing care and truly believes in the power of having great health care locally,” said Tim Hogan, Regional President of Bayshore Community Hospital and Riverview Medical Center. “Our sincerest thanks go to Angelo and Darlene for their enthusiasm and benevolence for Bayshore.”
