‘U.S. News’ picks best nursing homes in Monmouth County

Neptune, NJ - When home care or assisted living is no longer feasible, families often face the difficult choice of finding a nursing home for their loved one.  The good news is that there are some excellent options, right here in Monmouth County.  For the second year in a row, Meridian Health’s Holmdel, Shrewsbury and Ocean Grove subacute rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities, received a 5 star ranking in the U.S. News & World Report annual Best Nursing Homes ratings.  U.S. News’s recognizes top rated nursing homes in all 50 states and offers important guidance to families and healthcare providers caring for people in need of a home.

“We are proud of our continued strong performance reflected in these rankings,” said John K. Lloyd, FACHE, president of Meridian Health.  “We believe these rankings speak to the collaborative efforts of our physicians, nurses, and team members who are focused every day on consistently providing excellent care for our patients.”

Meridian Health’s subacute rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities provide specialized programs to meet the varying and personal needs of each patient and their family.  Within  a comfortable, home like setting, Meridian Health offers long term care, short term rehabilitation, post-hospital and post-surgical care, respite care, hospice care, 24-hour skilled nursing, coordination of physician services, family counseling and much more.

U.S. News’s evaluation of nursing homes is based on data from Nursing Home Compare, a consumer website run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The government agency sets and enforces standards for nursing homes (defined as facilities or portions of facilities enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid that provide 24-hour nursing care and other medical services). Homes earn an overall rating of one to five stars, as well as up to five stars in each of three underlying categories: health inspections, nurse staffing, and quality of care. U.S. News updates each nursing home’s ratings data quarterly.

The rankings are available online at Best Nursing Homes.
