23 Monmouth and Ocean County Towns Prepare to Go Pink in May…Businesses Welcome!

Businesses invited to participate in expanded “Paint the Town Pink” initiative

Neptune, NJ - Local business owners are invited to join the “Paint the Town Pink” initiative that will expand into 23 Monmouth and Ocean county towns for the month of May. As excitement grows to turn each town pink, local businesses have a great opportunity to participate in an important cause and put their town on the pink map!

“Paint the Town Pink” is a community-wide effort presented by Meridian Health to raise awareness of the importance of annual mammography. Business leaders in various communities have a unique opportunity to integrate breast health education into a woman’s daily routine as she shops and dines at the many businesses in participating towns.

The 2013 lineup of “pink” towns includes: Asbury Park, Atlantic Highlands, Avon By The Sea, Brick, Fair Haven, Highlands, Holmdel, Jackson, Little Silver, Manahawkin, Manasquan, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Neptune, Neptune City, Ocean Grove, Point Pleasant Beach, Point Pleasant Borough, Red Bank, Rumson, Shrewsbury, Toms River, and West Long Branch.

Participation is free and the level of involvement is up to each individual business. Meridian will provide each registered business a “pink kit” which includes educational materials, a window cling for your storefront, a listing on the website and pink piggy-banks to collect money to provide mammography for uninsured or under-insured community members. Businesses are welcome to go even further and get creative with decorations, pink specials, or anything to promote what they do best!

To become a “pink” business, sign up at Businesses that register by April 20 will be listed on the Paint the Town Pink web site.

Ways to participate are endless and completely up to the individual businesses. For example, bakeries may have pink cupcake specials; salons can have pink manicure specials; restaurants can have pink menu specials or cocktails; clothing stores may have pink sales. “Pink” businesses will be clearly identified and can offer a variety of specials and unique promotions.
