Mission
Statement
It is the mission of the Medical Staff Infection Control Committee to
facilitate the delivery of quality healthcare utilizing an
interdisciplinary performance improvement approach to control, reduce
and prevent the risk of both community and nosocomially acquired
infections.
Activities
The committee develops and implements a hospital-wide surveillance system,
as well as establishing written policies and procedures including
regular review and evaluation of such.
In addition, the committee provides necessary expertise and oversight to
the various disciplines on all infection control issues, including:
- Patient safety
- Bioterrorism preparedness
- Staff and patient education
- The appropriate use of antimicrobial agents
- Evaluation of the purchase and use of equipment and supplies
- Oversees employee health programs concerning infection control in patient
care activities and the hospital environment.
