Patients & Visitors
As a patient at Bayshore
Community Hospital, there are some basic points of information you
should know. Your identification bracelet, which was placed on your
wrist as you were admitted, must be worn throughout your hospital visit.
This bracelet helps staff members ensure that you get the proper
tests, medication and treatments prescribed by your doctor.
Visiting Hours
If your friends and family are waiting for you to come out of
surgery, to visit you in critical care units or to talk to the doctor,
they may wait in any of the visitor lounges near the surgical or
intensive care suites. Visitors can call the hospital operator or the
patient representative tofind out the status of a loved one.
Please ask your visitors to be considerate of other patients and
of you. If they are ill, they should wait to visit until they are
feeling better. Visitors are limited to two per patient and we ask
that they talk and walk softly in order not to disturb other
patients. Visitors must check in at the information desk prior to
going to a patient room.
Visiting hours for private and semi-private rooms begin at
11:30 a.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. (Visiting hours are flexible in
critical situations.)
In Pediatrics, parents may visit for as long as they like. Parents
can stay overnight in their child's room.
In our Critical Care Unit, we allow visitors throughout the day;
however, there may be times that certain conditions will necessitate
visit limitations. Please trust the knowledge of the physician
and the nursing staff, and support their decision. The patient
is their foremost concern. No two patients are alike, so visiting
hours for each patient can be customized.

Tobacco Free Campus
At Bayshore Community Hospital, smoking is absolutely forbidden for the
safety and health of patients and staff members. For your health,
Bayshore is becoming a tobacco free campus on 11/20/08.
Valuables
We strongly advise you to send home any valuables, such as jewelry or an
expensive watch, or have them stored in the hospital safe. Please do not
keep money in your room; a few dollars for the television service is
enough. Electric razors and radios are permitted. Please bring them to
the nurse's station to check for electrical safety. We encourage you to
also bring headphones for your radio, to keep the noise levels down for
comfort of all our patients.
If you have dentures, eyeglasses or contact lenses, we suggest you keep
them in a protective case. Since they are valuable to you, please do not
leave them on food trays or on the bed where they may be easily lost.
Please note, the hospital assumes no responsibility for lost or
misplaced items during your stay.
For Your Convenience
Bayshore Community Hospital provides several extra conveniences for you

spouse who stays overnight, a sitting area where you and a guest may
dine together, complimentary newspaper, telephone and television

no responsibility for lost or misplaced items during your stay.
