Bayshore Awarded Accreditation from The Joint Commission
By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare, quality and safety, Bayshore Community Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval.
"We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to our patients’ safety and quality care," says Raimonda Clark, president and CEO, Bayshore Community Health Services. "We view obtaining The Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence."
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s healthcare through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission's on-site survey of Bayshore Community Hospital occurred in June. This Joint Commission survey accreditation process and award did not include Bayshore’s skilled nursing and nursing home services.
"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organizational improvement in an organization’s performance and the outcomes of care," says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that Bayshore Community Hospital is focusing on the most challenging goal to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."
Raimonda Clark also spoke of her pride in a staff whose members ask what needs to be done to get accredited by The Joint Commission. "In addition, they appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the opportunity to interact with the team of surveyors."
