GIVING AND RECEIVING IS REALLY A B.L.A.S.T. AT BAYSHORE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
Students from St. John’s United Methodist Church Junior Youth Group,
Bible Learning and Spiritual Training (B.L.A.S.T.) visited Bayshore
Community Hospital’s Emergency Department to donate care packets
intended for children who may require emergency services or who are with
a grown-up receiving emergency attention.
The St. John’s Youth Group, located in Hazlet, was very creative,
thoughtful and caring in the decoration of large envelopes filled with
coloring books, crayons, stickers, and many other surprises, each sorted
for boys and girls.
The group, led by Karrie Jayne & Joshua Johnson, Keyport, hopes to help
children in emergency situations feel at ease and relaxed during an
unexpected visit to an emergency room.
The B.L.A.S.T. after-school program is for all fourth through sixth
grade students who enjoy fun team building games, outreach and mission
projects, and meeting new friends. They meet on Wednesdays at St.
John’s.
Presenting one of the handmade care packets to Andrew Herman, Cliffwood
Beach, an Emergency Department patient at Bayshore Community Hospital,
are students from the St. John's Youth Group (l to r): Kyle Johnson,
Scott Gocklin, Jennifer Doran, and Allison Alfonso.
