compassionate setting focused on rehabilitation of mind, body and spirit.
Each location also offers a unique setting with a host of professionals
ready to create a personalized rehabilitation program to improve the
quality of life of the individual.
Bayshore's interdisciplinary team of skilled rehabilitation professionals
work in cooperation with patients and their physicians. This team approach
has allowed us to achieve the highest possible state of health, physical
functioning, independence and quality of life for our clients.
Physical Therapy helps patients who
suffer from limitations in physical functioning, movement disorders and
pain to regain their maximum level of independence.
Following an evaluation, the physical therapist will design an
individualized program based upon each patient's needs. Exercise, manual
techniques and education in body mechanics and posture may be included.
Training in the use of braces or artificial limbs may also be included.
Additionally, the therapy may be accompanied by the use of various
physical modalities, such as heat, cold, water, sound, light and
electromagnetic waves, to help eliminate pain, reduce swelling and speed
the healing of soft tissue.
Occupational Therapy consists of
goal-oriented, purposeful activities to help patients overcome physical
disabilities.
Patients receive training in the everyday skills they need to live as
independently as possible. These activities help patients adapt their
daily activities to the limitations they face, and improve their levels of
independence in such self-care activities as grooming, dressing and
bathing.
